Fishbites

Fishbites have been a massive game changer for New Zealand recreational boat fishing and Surfcasting as many anglers that were struggling to catch fish in the past were now catching lots of fish. 

A few areas in New Zealand have always struggling with catching fish on soft plastic lures and they never seem to work as well as stink bait, but now finally we have a product that actually works and it has so many advantages over "stink bait" fishing for example:

  • No stinky fishy smelling hands
  • No messy bait blood and guts to clean after fishing
  • It stays on your hook Cast after Cast fish after fish and lasts well over an hour per cut piece of bait giving you more time in the water and less baiting up
  • Proven to catch fish, 52 different NZ species of fish has been recorded caught on Fishbites
  • You do not need a big chilly bin to keep this bait in as it doesn't need to be kept frozen.
  • It comes in a re sealable zip lock bag and as long as kept dry will last you a very long time. 
  • You only need to cut off a small strip of Fishbites about the size of your thumb nail to put on your hook, The Long lasting baits has a mesh in between 2 layers of Fishbites that keeps it on your hook. This means small fish are not able to take it off and you can rest assured that your not trying to catch fish with no bait on the hook after a few nibbles. 
  • Compared to a 1Kg bag of Pilchards Fishbites would last you at least 3 - 4 times longer and we all know after freezing and thawing out a bag of frozen bait a few times how messy that gets.  

FAQ's

Q:  Which ones do I get.

A:  This depends on what you are targeting. Here is a few Flavors and colours from our experience and the trend of fish they have been catching.

Most Popular All-Round Fishbites Baits: 

  • Crab Electric Chicken
  • Shrimp Electric Chicken
  • Clam Coquina

For Snapper we found most of the Crab baits were working very well. The Bag o Worms Bloodworm and Sand worm are also a very popular treat for them.

For Gurnard we found Crab Orange, Crab Yellow, Clam Coquina, EZ Sand Flea, and Fish n strips Sand flea worked a treat.

Blue Moki were going crazy for any of the Clam flavors with Clam Char, Clam Pink, Clam yellow and Clam Coquina being the most popular ones.

Kingfish as always loves a bit of pink so with that Crab Pink and Clam pink makes a top choice but they also have been caught on Crab Char, Clam Char and Crab and Clam yellow flavors as well. A new competitor came on board with the Fishbites fight club scented soft plastic lures and also in pink called Smack Down so look out for that one.

Trevally loves the Clam flavored baits and the Clam Pink, Clam Yellow and Clam Char are the clear winners here. 

Recorded catches of Kahawai shows Crab flash, Clam flesh, Crab yellow and Crab Char to be the front runners. 

Tarakihi as we all know loves a bit of squid so it is no surprise that the Fish and Chunks Squid and Shrimp were very popular here. Also any other flesh coloured Fishbites seems to be doing the job.
