Worm Shaft Spool System
The Worm Shaft Spool System enables precise vertical spool movement, allowing line to be laid evenly and tightly. This improves casting smoothness, reduces friction, and enhances distance performance.
MCF Design
The MCF (Metal Core Frame) is MUGEN’s proprietary reel body design. It combines a reinforced lightweight aluminum alloy structure with key stainless steel components to increase body rigidity. This construction enhances durability under high stress while maintaining corrosion resistance in saltwater environments.
Powerful Drag System
With a max to 20kg drag, the Mugen MetalStorm 14000 is well-suited for snapper, kahawai, kingfish, and heavier species like shark and stingray.
From 2025, each MetalStorm 14000 includes an additional set of 3 carbon drag washers, giving anglers the flexibility to configure drag response based on species and technique.

Dual Transmission Shaft Mechanism
The reel features a Dual Transmission Shaft Mechanism within the main gear assembly. This dual-shaft system enhances internal gear stability, minimizes torque distortion under load, and ensures reliable performance of the oscillation and retrieval system.
Dynamic Balanced Rotor
The Dynamic balanced Rotor to minimize vibration during high-speed rotation. This ensures smooth operation and reduces wear on internal components over time.
Ceramic Line Roller Bearing
The 2025 version includes a ceramic line roller bearing, offering up to 90% greater thermal conductivity than traditional metal rollers (rated up to 20–40 W/(m·K)).
This reduces heat and friction during line retrieval, extending the reel’s lifespan and providing smoother performance under heavy use.
Drone Fishing Compatibility
The Mugen MetalStorm 14000 holds approximately 750 meters of 0.35mm / 60lb PE braid (e.g. Power Pro), offering ample line capacity for heavy setups. It’s also well-suited for drone fishing applications where range and load capacity are critical.
