OVER $10,000 IN PRIZES TO BE WON!
The Last Cast Land Based Winter Kahawai Measuring Comp is a fishing competition open to all surfcasters in Hawke's Bay. It runs during the winter months, from June till August. Prizes are awarded for the biggest Kahawai. Upload your measuring video and win your share in prizes worth $10,000.
Kahawai are judged by length, not weight, so all you need to do is take a video of your catch using the official competition measure mat (included with your ticket) and upload the video to the Facebook group. Catch and release is entirely the angler’s choice.
Every fish entered is eligible for our weekly average prize so it's well worth entering plenty of catches.
When: 1 June - 31 August 2024 at 5pm.
Where: Hawke’s Bay (from Pōrangahau - Māhia)
How to Measure
Videos only, no photos will be accepted. Place the fish on its side on top of the measure mat, the tip of the nose aligned with the left edge of the measure mat.
The fork of the tail is where the measurement will be taken so make sure this is clearly visible in your video.
