OVER $14,000 IN PRIZES TO BE WON!

The Last Cast Land Based Winter Kahawai Measuring Comp is a fishing competition open to all surfcasters in Hawke's Bay. It runs during the winter months, from 1 June till 10 August. Prizes are awarded for the biggest Kahawai. Upload your measuring video and win your share in prizes worth $14,000.

Kahawai are judged by length, not weight, so all you need to do is take a video of your catch using the official competition measure mat (included with your ticket) and upload the video to the Facebook group. Catch and release is entirely the angler’s choice.

Every fish entered is eligible for our weekly average prize so it's well worth entering plenty of catches.

When: 1 June - 10 August 2025 at 5pm.
Where: Hawke’s Bay (from Pōrangahau - Māhia)
